Committees for 2003
Parent Advocacy Committee
Chairperson
- Lori Dubraka.
Responsibilities of the
chairperson will be to select five or six committee members from the WVLDA
membership list who will be willing to help
establish a training program for parent advocates in West Virginia.
Communication/Public
Relations Committee
Co-Chairpersons-Josie
McInturff and Lora Fulton.
The responsibilities of the co-chairpersons for the Communication/Public
Relations Committee will be to ensure that all minutes are sent to all members
immediately following board meetings, newsletters are published at least
quarterly, membership brochures are available for distribution to other
organizations, and local newspapers are sent articles and/or information to
increase public awareness of WVLDA and the success stories in the state.
The co-chairpersons have as their responsibility to select a committee
from the membership a list of members who are willing to provide assistance in
communications and public relations.

It will be the responsibilities of the co-chairpersons of this committee
to select committee members who will be willing
to assist in the process of establishing
local chapters of WVLDA and increasing membership throughout the state.
The targeted areas are listed in the goals for the year.
Research Committee
Chairperson
- Laura Rowden It will be the
responsibility of the chairperson to select committee members who will be
willing to assist in the project of researching and developing a state and
national resource packet of materials for WVLDA. These materials will be distributed throughout the state and
made available for all members of the organization as well.
Technology Committee
Chairperson-
Lora Fulton. It will be the
responsibility of the chairperson to select committee members who will be
willing to supply information to update and maintain a quality web page for the
WVLDA.
Conference Committee
Co-Chairpersons-
Dr. Barbara Guyer, and Lora Fulton and Beverly Mullins.
It will be the responsibility of the chairpersons of the conference
committee to select committee members who will provide assistance in planning,
promoting, and presenting a quality conference for 2005.
Nominating Committee
Chairperson
- Lisa Austin.
The chairperson will select committee members and prepare a slate of
officers and board members to present to the membership for vote at the annual
meeting in October 2002.
By-Laws Revision Committee
Co-Chairpersons
- Lisa Austin and Maria Roberts. The
duties will be to revise and rewrite the By-Laws of the WVLDA.
Professional Development
Committee
Co-Chairpersons
- Barbara Guyer and Lynne Weston.
The duties of the committee will include working with the WVLDA and other
organizations to provide opportunities for professional growth in the field of
Learning Disabilities.
